Peter Baron’s Tribute to Frampton
w/ Special Guest Corky Laing
Peter Baron's sound has been described as a combination of modern edgy pop rock and 70's metal. He first met Peter Frampton when he opened for Leslie West's Mountain. He was 17 and playing 2nd guitar with Leslie. It was quite an adventure going from church dances to baseball stadiums overnight. After the tour's first leg was over, Peter walked into his rehearsal studio where he was rehearsing. Frampton asked him to play guitar with him when he was recording "The Art of Control.” He was looking to do something a bit heavier like Humble Pie. Barron had toured with Steve Mariott of Humble Pie.
Barron started this band with Frampton's bass player of 32 years and 12 albums, John Regan. Barron was there at Electric Lady Studios when they were mixing "Frampton Comes Alive" with Peter, and his engineer, Frankie Daugusta who also engineered 5 of Peter Barron’s solo albums and is helping with the Frampton tribute recordings and live sound! Also featured on the recorded versions of Peter's songs are drummer Tony Lazzara and keyboardist Paul Morris [Rainbow / Trans-Siberian Orchestra].
How cool is it to have both Frampton's bass player and his former studio/live sound engineer working with Barron on the recordings for the Frampton tribute?
Barron toured the U.S. & Canada with Leslie West and Corky Laing of Mountain in The Wild West Show at stadiums, coliseums and well-known clubs, playing to audiences as large as 70,000 with some of the biggest bands on the planet.
Peter rocked out a 21-city tour of Finland, performed at the Paul McCartney Breast Cancer Foundation benefit along with Simon Labon (Duran Duran), Nile Rogers and Chic and Vernon Reid of Living Color. He also played to a sold out Carnegie Hall.
